Weigh-Up

The Weigh-Up task allows students to demonstrate their ability to use a balance scale. Students will weigh and then rank boxes of pebbles from lightest to heaviest. Students will complete this task working one on one with a teacher-administrator. The resources required for this task are four boxes of pebbles (different weight but same size), balance scales, and a mat.

This task is a part of the Number task series from 1997 by NEMP.

What Next?

The What Next? task allows students to demonstrate their understanding of patterns and their relationships using multicolor counters. Students will complete this task working stations.  Resources required for this task include a picture, green and yellow pencils, and an answer booklet.

Working with 1, 3, 4, 18

The Working with 1, 3, 4, 18 task allows students to demonstrate their ability to construct number sentences.  Students will use the numbers 1, 3, 4, and 18 to complete the number sentences using addition, subtractions, division, multiplication, and fractions. Students will complete this task working in stations. The resources required for this task are four yellow cards (numbered 1, 3, 4, and 18) and three cards with addition and subtraction symbols .
