The 2015 History- American (BES) Specimen Paper 1 is a released Cambridge IGCSE assessment. The assessment is designed to give student s a variety of ways to show their knowledge and skills and contains free-response questions. The assessment tests students' (1) ability to recall, select, organize and deploy knowledge of the syllabus content, (2) ability to construct historical explanations using an understanding of: (a) cause and consequence, change and continuity, similarity and difference (b) the motives, emotions, intentions and beliefs of people in the past, and (3) ability to understand, analyze, evaluate, and use critically a range of sources as evidence, in their historical context; and (4) ability to (a) use critically a range of sources to generate an interpretation of the significance of a site or object in its historical context (b) provide appropriate acknowledgment of sources.
