ANIA Children's Land Project / Tierra de Niños

In the ANIA Children's Land Project / Tierra de Niños task, students will share their home and/or school garden experiences and learn about how the agricultural methods of the Incan people of Peru can guide them in developing their own sustainable gardening practices. This task includes four possible classroom activities.

An Enterprising Idea

The An Enterprising Idea unit includes an introduction, the learning focus, 4 teaching and learning activities, assessment criteria, and resources.

Unit description from source:  In An enterprising idea students develop a brochure or website which provides potential entrepreneurs with advice about starting a small business. Through this project, students develop an understanding of enterprise attributes and employability skills required to run a small business. As part of a team, students research, collect, organize and analyze information related to the establishment of a small-scale business project. They plan activities, manage resources (time, people and finances) and use information and communications technology to record and monitor team progress and to prepare a brochure or website. Students also reflect on how they worked as part of a team and how they contributed to the successful management of their project.

Australians- Yesterday and Today

The Australians- Yesterday and Today unit includes an introduction, the learning focus, 5 teaching and learning activities, assessment criteria, and resources.

Unit description from source: In Australians – yesterday and today students compare and contrast the experiences of two immigrant families or individuals to Australia in the post-World War II period and in present times. As part of a team, they frame research questions to explore the context for particular migrant stories and make links to historical circumstances in their home country and in Australia. They also reflect on how they work in a team, delegate tasks and manage their time.

The CIVICS task serves as a platform for young people to be actively involved in their communities. Groups of students will be guided to work around Millennium Development Goals focusing issues like environment, eradication of poverty, women education, education and literacy. Students will plan action projects and respond some of these issues through a process of reflection, dialogue and action. This task includes several possible classroom activities.

Calligraphic Arts

The Calligraphic Arts task is designed to engage students to explore the art of Calligraphy, learn its history, and learn techniques. Students will select or create short text focusing peace, love, tolerance, friendship in the form of poems, slogans, phrase, words, select sayings from Sufis or scholars, and use different medium including software to produce calligraphic pieces and share their completed projects in the interactive forum and a web gallery. Likewise students will get an opportunity to appreciate and comment on the pieces Calligraphic art designed by peers from participating countries.
