Girls Rising Project
In the Girls Rising Project task, students will watch "Girl Rising" (or excerpted chapters at: Nepal Chapter http://youtu.be/Hk2Q7WLzn0sand Peru Chapter http://youtu.be/7P6nL7PXILw if the full DVD is not available) and, then share their reflections. Students are encouraged to share ideas about what they can do to make the situation of girls in the world and in their own country better.

Global Math
The Global Math task uses math as a unifying tool to investigate and understand our shared world. Students will use basic secondary mathematics to observe symmetry in their surroundings, compare regional temperatures, model population growth, gather statistics about their communities and measure the size of Earth. The goal is to use mathematics as a common language to facilitate investigation and collaboration.

Haymarket Aftermath
This task assesses students' ability to evaluate the relevance of contextual information for determining the motivations of an author. Students must select two facts and explain how they shed light on the cartoon's depiction of Illinois Governor Altgeld's pardon in 1893. Students with a strong understanding of contextualization will be able to explain how fears aroused by the Haymarket riot, and increasing tensions during the Depression of 1893, may help explain the cartoonist's work.

Heart to Heart
The Heart to Heart task is a project that promotes friendship around the world.It is a project that involves writing. Students will share their feelings / emotions and participate in different themes monthly. Each month a new theme will be posted and students will respond, post pictures, make videos, participate in videoconferences, and write about that theme in the project forum.

Heritage around the World/Patrimoine Mondial
The Heritage around the World/Patrimoine Mondial task enables students to share the heritage of their country. Students will choose a topic relating to their country's heritage and illustrate the topic through descriptions, articles, films, videos, and audio documents. The Heritage can include architecture, stories, tales, oral traditions, dances, music, intruments, crafts, endangered species, endangered water reserves, climate changes experienced during our lifetime, and any other topics of interest.
