Apples

The Apples task allows students to demonstrate their money calculation skills. Students will calculate the cost of a weight of apples, determine the smallest bill they can use to pay for them, and calculate the change they will be given back. Students will complete this task working one on one with a teacher-administrator.  The resources required for this task are advertisement cards, a calculator, and $5, $10, and $20 notes.

This task is a part of the Measurement task series from 2001. This task is classified as a trend task by NEMP. Trend tasks are used to examine trends in student performance: whether they have improved, stayed constant or declined over the four-year period since the previous assessments.
